solo show, Unraveling, Transference, opened on September 6, 2023 at Vent Gallery, RIdgewood, Ny.

Carrying, Holding, Releasing, 2023 —Single channel video projection, 00:22:17

Unraveling, Transference explores the intimacies of weight and grief through materials Ong has carried with her from studio to studio and apartment to apartment over the past ten years. The works in this show can be considered as post-performance ritual objects, artifacts to the processes. The physical labor of Ong’s work —  carrying, holding, tearing, twisting, dyeing, winding, wrapping, tying, bundling, wrestling, listening, surrendering — is an unraveling of grief. It’s a transference of weight. The exhibit is further contextualized and placed in time by a soundscape composed in collaboration with Jeff Ong
